History
In 1999 we saw a lack of educational and technological services available to single-parent families who desired to improve their quality of life but lacked the resources to achieve their goals. To overcome these obstacles, Education Based Housing was formed and combined three basic components; education, housing, and job skills training.
In 2022, Education Based Housing changed its name to Empower Community Development Corporation. By partnering with educational institutions, youth organizations, and technology-based companies, Empower CDC implemented programs geared towards teaching High School Equivalency Exam prep classes, drug and gang prevention, financial planning, jobs skills training, and parenting skills to enable the residents to participate without leaving the community.
In partnership with affordable housing developers who participate in the housing tax-credit program, Empower CDC has provided our services to the following communities:
